Ich habe gerade zuvor ( am So. 26.08.2012, 14:20 MEZ ) folgendes Schreiben an die DAILY MAIL Zeitung in London versandt ( und gleichzeitig auch – bisher – an 90 weitere Empfänger versandt ) und sie darin gebeten sich dieser Sache auch weiterhin anzunehmen.

I am writing to you in response to the CHILD FORCED LABOUR story, pertaining to Austria ( Österreich ), authored by Allan Hall in Berlin and published by the MAIL Online on Thursday 16th August 2012, at 17:10 GMT, titled »Swarovski accused of exploiting forced labour of teenage girls in care homes during the 1960s« appearing @ www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2189357/Swarovski-accused-exploiting-forced-labour-teenagers.html#comments

From my own personal experience I can confirm: This CHILD FORCED LABOUR, UNPAID FORCED LABOUR, of "children and youth in care" was common practice and widely used – continuously – for several decades after the Second World War in both Austria ( Österreich ) and Germany ( Deutschland ) ( particularly in West Germany ! ) ( besonders in Westdeutschland ! ) in peat bogs, in agricultural enterprises, in industrial laundries and everywhere in the manufacturing sector of food staples, consumer goods and machinery.

I am a 66-year old naturalised resident of Australia who arrived here from West Germany as "a stateless minor" in 1964 directly from what your paper calls a "care home", of which there were over 3000 in West Germany alone predominantly run for profit by the two major churches. The last "care home" in which I was incarcerated before migrating to Australia at age 17½ was run by the German Evangelical Lutheran Church ( Evangelische Kirche / Bethel ) and was a large commercial church enterprise situated in a vast peat bog on the Lower Saxony moors. The inmates of this particular "care home" ( Freistatt ), boys aged 14 to 20 years of age, were made to perform unpaid forced labour for this enterprise in all weathers, summer and winter, 5½ days a week. Sunday was reserved for church and for full on religious indoctrination.

Most of the inmates of these "care homes", boys and girls alike – up to a million in total, were kept incarcerated by the CHILD WELFARE ( Jugendamt ) in these closed institutions until age 21 and then thrown onto the street penniless and without having been taught a trade and without the necessary social skills to make it in the world outside.

A list of companies involved in this post war CHILD FORCED LABOUR practice – a list which does by no means claim to be complete – has been painstakingly compiled over the last few years and includes the following names:

Some of these Profiteers were at different times in a particular decade (for example) known under several different or varying company names; some of them changed their names as well as their owners several times, enlarged their stockholding, had takeovers or went out of business. )

In Austria ( Österreich ), too, the "forced labour of children in care" to which the minors were subjected would not have been confined solely to only the three firms that have so far been mentioned: "Swarovski", "Darbo" und "Elgo". There would have been plenty more.

The overall profits from this CHILD FORCED LABOUR – this practice was ongoing continuously for at least three decades, if not indeed a total of four – for West Germany alone would total in the billions of dollars ( Deutsche Mark / Euro Profit in Milliardenhöhe ! ).

The Federal Republic of Germany, however, is in total denial of these events and the companies who have profited from this CHILD FORCED LABOUR hide behind this continuing wall of silence.

Would be good if the current story now coming out of Austria ( Österreich ) could at last breach this wall of silence.
